About the Event

Join us for the 9th Annual BioHealth Capital Region Forum on September 19th and 20th, 2023, at US Pharmacopeia (USP) located at 12601 Twinbrook Pkwy, Rockville, MD 20850. This year, we are excited to announce that the Forum will be an entirely in-person event, responding to the feedback of our stakeholders.

The BioHealth Capital Region Forum serves as the premier gathering for the biopharma sector, bringing together over 1,100 registrants annually, including esteemed government officials, academic leaders, and industry executives. This event offers a unique opportunity to reconnect, rekindle partnerships, and explore new avenues for growth within the region.

As the flagship event of the BioHealth Capital Region, the Forum showcases the region’s strengths, celebrates successes, and delves into future trends. It provides a platform for thought-provoking discussions, knowledge sharing, and fostering collaborations that advance both public health and economic outcomes. With over 2,300 life science companies, 78 federal labs, and a host of renowned academic institutions, the BioHealth Capital Region is a thriving hub of innovation and opportunity.

Furthermore, we are thrilled to announce that following the Forum, the 6th Annual BioHealth Capital Region Investment Conference will take place on September 21st at the same location. This conference offers an exclusive platform for investment and partnership opportunities within the vibrant biohealth industry.

8th Annual Crab Trap Competition

Now in its 8th year, the BioHealth Capital Region Crab Trap continues to grow, attracting applicants from around the region, country, and internationally. The competition highlights entrepreneurs with commercially relevant diagnostics, medical devices, therapeutics, and other transformative health solutions.

This year’s Crab Trap winner will be eligible for a package of prizes worth more than $50,000. Prizes for the qualifying Crab Trap winner include:

  • A $10,000 cash prize from Greenberg Traurig
  • A $25,000 cash prize from Montgomery County (for a firm headquartered in Montgomery County)
  • A one-year residency at JLABS @ Washington, D.C. (for a firm of their choice)
  • $10,000 in Preclinical CRO services from Noble Life Sciences.

The Crab Trap competition will take place on Tuesday, September 21st, as part of the BioHealth Capital Region Forum at US Pharmacopeia in Rockville, MD
